Your Patient Journey with Unirad UK
From booking to diagnosis – we’re with you every step of the way
At Unirad UK, we know that undergoing a medical scan can be unfamiliar or even unsettling. That’s why we’re committed to providing a smooth, supportive and transparent experience – before, during and after your MRI scan.
Whether you are referred by your GP or self-refer, our expert team of radiographers and consultants is here to guide you through each stage of your care journey.
✅ 01. Before Your MRI Scan
Once your scan is booked, our imaging team will send you all the relevant details in advance. This includes:
What to bring and what to leave at home (e.g. jewellery, credit cards, metal objects)
Whether you need to fast beforehand
Medical implant or device requirements (e.g. pacemakers)
You’ll also be asked to complete a short safety questionnaire before your appointment to ensure MRI is safe for you.
📡 02. During Your MRI Scan
Upon arrival, our friendly radiographer will explain the procedure step-by-step and answer any last-minute questions. You’ll be provided with a gown and ear protection – and if needed, a contrast injection may be administered to enhance image quality.
Scans typically last 20 to 60 minutes
You’ll be able to communicate with your radiographer throughout
You may choose to listen to music or a podcast to help you relax
For complex cases, our on-site consultant radiologists can assess your images in real-time and adjust sequences to ensure optimal results.
🧾 03. After Your MRI Scan
Your images are carefully reviewed by one of our consultant radiologists. A comprehensive report is then sent directly to your referring doctor – usually within 48 hours.
If you’ve booked a same-day consultation, your Unirad consultant will meet with you shortly after the scan to discuss the findings and outline next steps in your care, including any further tests or treatments that may be required.
