Assesses: stroke-like changes, inflammation, masses, hydrocephalus, white-matter disease and post-trauma changes.

Good for: persistent headaches, seizures, memory or cognitive symptoms, head injury (non-emergency).

What to expect: 20–30 mins in the scanner; occasionally contrast is recommended.
